The Luv Michael Volunteer Toolkit
This page will guide you through our volunteer program and show you how to complete your 40 service hours with Luv Michael. Below, you will find every required step along with the support resources you need. You will also see the link you will use to submit your work.

What you’ll be doing
Step 1: Advocacy Outreach
Research and send 3 personalized email letters to your local representatives advocating for better support for adults on the autism spectrum.
Step 2: Resource Collection
Identify and submit 3 local support resources for adults on the autism spectrum in your area. This will help us crowdsource a national resource database for the Luv Michael website.
Step 3: Fundraising
Commit to raising at least $100 for the Charity to support Luv Michael's programs. Higher fundraising tiers unlock special recognition:
Raise $250: Graduation cord
Raise $500: Graduation cord and a personalized letter of recommendation.

Find Your Local Representatives
Use tools like Common Cause or search "Who represents me?" along with your zip code to identify your representatives at the local, state, and federal levels.
Write Your Letters
Use the template found here as a guide. Feel free to personalize it with your passion and experiences.
Submit Your Letters
Email your letter directly to your representative or use the contact form on their official website.
Proof of Submission: Take a screenshot of the sent email or confirmation page and upload it to the Luv Michael submission portal. Do this for all three.
Step 2: Resource Collection

Identify Resources in Your Area
Use these simple methods:
Google Search: Search for terms like "autism support services near me" or "resources for adults on the autism spectrum in [your city/state]."
Local Directories: Check nonprofit directories, city websites, or local libraries for information.
Community Boards: Look for flyers or announcements at schools, churches, or community centers.
Document Three Resources
For each resource, provide:

Upload your completed list to the Luv Michael submission portal.
Step 3: Fundraising
Commit to raising at least $100 for the Charity to support Luv Michael's programs. Higher fundraising tiers unlock special recognition.

This helps our charity provide employment opportunities, support families with resources for independent living, and help us find more volunteers like you to advocate for this vulnerable community.
Create Your Campaign Page
Use the video and link below to create a personal campaign page. This page will allow you to receive and track donations.
Share Your Campaign
Use email, social media, and text messages to spread the word and include the link to your campaign page for donations. Templates and tips are included in the fundraising guide.
Unlock Rewards
Raise $100 to meet the minimum requirement.
Raise $250 to earn a graduation cord.
Raise $500 to receive a graduation cord and a personalized letter of recommendation.
Track and Submit Your Progress
Monitor donations on your GiveLively dashboard. Submit your fundraising total and link to your campaign to the submission portal found below.

To submit your page link, open your page, select “copy link,” and paste that link into the submission form.
Once you submit, our team will review your work and send you your 40 Hour Community Service Certificate and bonuses within a week!

Please take a look at the fundraising guide in this toolkit for ideas and support to help you complete your fundraiser. We know fundraising can feel tricky at first, but most of our volunteers have found that the fastest way to reach their goal is simply sharing their campaign link with their family. Once they sent it out, they usually hit their goal in a snap. Try sharing your link with the people closest to you and let them know why this matters to you. You’ll be surprised how quickly the support comes in. If you need anything at all, I’m here to help.

We can guarantee that upon a complete submission of the project you will receive your certificate and any bonuses you earned. First, check to make sure you have completed the fundraising portion of the project. If you haven’t completed it we won’t be able to send your hours. Next, check your inbox and spam folders for an email from jack@luvmichael.com with the subject line “Your Luv Michael Volunteer Recognition”. If you completed your project and still can’t find it, email us at info@luvmichael.com and we’ll help fix whatever issue may be happening.

We suggest completing the project within two weeks, though there is no strict deadline. If you need more time, that is completely fine and you will still receive your hours and any bonuses you qualify for.

Fundraising can be a challenge but there are a lot of ways to complete the fundraising portion of this project. First, make sure to send one of the messages from the fundraising guide with your campaign page link attached to anyone you can think of that would be willing to donate. If that doesn’t work, you can try using social media or working with advocacy based clubs at your school to fulfill the fundraising requirement.

The PVSA program is not active right now and there is no timetable for when it will return. No organization in the country can currently issue PVSA awards.
If the program returns, we will update all volunteers and all hours earned will still count towards the award if and when it resumes.

In the email you receive after completing the program, you will find your certificate. If you qualified for a grad cord, that email will also include a link to the grad cord request form. Once you fill it out with your address, we will ship your cord as soon as we can. Since we are a nonprofit, we use a special low-cost arrangement with our local post office, which limits how many packages we can send at one time. We will do everything we can to get your grad cord to you quickly, but please allow two to four weeks depending on shipping volume.
