Children’s Book: Inside Tales of “Luv”, A Very Big Idea About Empowerment

New York, NY  – As a children’s story or an adult-world idea, the story of the Luv Michael granola company inspires the desire to believe in ourselves.

The Tales at Luv Michael: The Big Idea, written by Lisa Liberatore M.D. and illustrated by Lauren King chronicles the life of Michael, a young man with autism whose own journey to help himself becomes a movement helping so many others.

Michael’s story reflects a real-world issue facing millions of young adults with autism and developmental disabilities – the lack of educational services after age 18. Also known as “falling off a cliff”, the common circumstance leaves many young adults stranded without any way to further develop their abilities.

That’s why Dr. Liberatore explored cooking as a possible vocation for her own son, Michael, who has autism.  The pursuit soon gave life to the Luv Michael granola product that is ideal as a cooking process for novice chefs to learn as well as an ideal food for sensitive digestive systems, common among those with autism. Today, Luv Michael is produced in a professional kitchen by a dozen “granologists” – all young adults with autism and developmental disabilities. It is sold in by over 60 Greater New York Area retailers.

The book, beautifully illustrated with characters resembling the real-life granologists who work for Luv Michael, tells a story of the search for acceptance and belonging that begins as a solo endeavor and becomes a collective effort helping many others.  A story with a moral sure to touch young readers with an appreciation for sharing and goodwill. Qualities we all work to share with our children.

“The story of Luv Michael is a story about believing in people and trusting your heart. I hope that this little book finds its way into the lives of those needing some inspiration to go after their dreams”, says author Dr. Lisa Liberatore.

And the development of the book and the sharing of this story furthers the mission to help others as we help ourselves. It is the value of collective effort and empathy that gives way to a better life for all of us. Contributor, Timothy Bellavia, M.F.A adds, “What is exciting to me about the book “The Tales at Luv Michael” is that it proves that we can all find success in our own uniqueness.”

The large print paperback, 52 pages, in full color is currently available on Amazon and soon to be appearing in bookstores.
